Portraits by Raymond Stauble

The portrait is painted from your favorite photograph. Photos of animals need not be larger than 3-l/2" x 5", but they should be sharp, with accurate color and good detail, especially of the head. Photos of people should be of professional quality and at least 5" x 7". Send as many photos as you like, but mark the one you want used for the pose. All photos will be returned to you.

Oil portraits are painted on stretched double-primed linen canvas. Pastel portraits are painted on the finest high-rag content, acid-free pastel paper. (Very large pastels are painted on specially prepared rigid panels.) Only the most permanent pigments are used in both mediums. Your portrait will last for many generations to come, whether you choose oil or pastel.

You may specify any type background you wish -- plain, scenic, still-life -- the choice is yours. If in doubt, a plain toned background is always appropriate, particularly with head and shoulders portraits. If you wish, use the portraits on this site for examples and ideas.

There is a deposit of 20% with the order, with the balance on acceptance. For your convenience there is a printable order form on the next page. When I receive your order I will call you on the phone to confirm it and discuss it with you. When the portrait is finished I will send a photo of it to you for your approval. If you feel changes are warranted, I will make them, and if necessary, supply additional approval photos. You must be completely satisfied. When you approve, mail a check for the balance and the portrait will be sent to you. Please make checks payable to Raymond Stauble. Allow up to six weeks for the entire process.

Shipping and insurance are included in the continental United States. Framing is not included. Fine art deserves proper framing, and depends on your taste and where the portrait is to hang -- factors beyond my control. I strongly advise using a professional framer who can recommend a frame that will display the portrait to the best advantage for your situation.
